Game Face On

Last week while having lunch with the girls from my work, we talked about our dream wedding – not that any of us are getting married anytime soon. Most of us are well…yes, single. :P

In the middle of our very ‘serious’ discussion, we arrived at the topic of the bouquet toss. We all know the drill right? This is the part where all the single ladies in the room are called in front and the bride will throw her bouquet and whoever catches it will be the next one to get married.

In the Philipipnes, most single ladies get shy to go up in front. Sometimes the parents hinder their daughters who are in their 20s to join (I guess their family is that conservative, eh?). I like the bouquet toss during weddings, I think it’s an exciting and funny part of the program, I love it even more that it’s evolving and there are already different ways of executing it.

I am not shy to admit that I am highly competitive when it comes to this portion of the program. My friends didn’t want to believe me, so I showed them photos of the wedding I attended last year.

“Make sure I’ll be on that spot where the bouquet toss will be! “

This is me warming up. Doing several facial expressions para I know how to react when I get the bouquet.

This is me explaining to my neighbor that I really want to win.

The bride throws her bouquet.

GAME FACE ON!!!

Obviously I didn’t get it…but hey! No hard feelings diba.?

Paulo Coelho once said – if you want something to bad, the universe will conspire to make it happen. Just like any other girl – I obviously want to get married. So if the day comes I will be able to catch a bouquet – I will definitely spread the joy about it.

Thailand Hangover

Drinking and watching shows in Patpong is an adventure.
Shopping at Chatuchak is an adventure.
Sunbathing with half naked foreigners at Phuket is an adventure.
Eating their spicy food and street food is of course another adventure.

Well it seems that these guys will “redefine” adventure in Thailand this May 26, 2011.

I actually got super excited when I saw the full trailer this afternoon. Click on the link below.

It made me reminisce on my first trip to Thailand with my friends. We were only there for a couple of days but I would love to go back. I remember we were buying Johnnie Walker Soda Mix in 7-11 so that we would all pass out in our 12 hour bus ride from Bangkok to Phuket. Don’t worry – it’s not like when we did anything crazy on our there like the movie.

I’d love to go back and stay longer though. I totally understand why Thailand gets around 11 million tourists a year. (I think Philippines can have the same but this deserves a separate blog entry).

When I got back, I made a collage on the highlights of our trip because I still had a hangover.

Net take away? Let’s just watch the film when it’s out, visit Thailand at least once in your life and Bradley Cooper, I hope I marry you someday.

Reviving Charanoid’s Android

Since late last year, a good friend of mine would always encourage me to start a blog. I honestly don’t know what I would write about and what url to use – then I remembered that I had a blogspot account since 2008 (if I’m not mistaken).

I realized I already had more than a 120 entries – most of them are quite personal, quotes from favorite books and movies, photos, etc. My apologies in advanced since I’m still in the process of weeding out the highly emotional stuff.

So what’s Charanoid’s Android all about?

Random Shalahs! A Hodge podge of sorts – anything I want to share, useless info I want you to read, insights I want you to ponder on.

Can be about fashion, travel, photography, movies, music, my line of work, concerts, people, celebrities, sports – name it and let me surprise you if I’ll write about it.

Just allow this Jill of all trades to entertain you. :) Let me introduce myself to you once again. I am Char the Star who works for PR. This is Charanoid’s Android simply because I tend to bring paranoia to a different level. Nice to meet ya!

Let’s see if this will work, eh? Wish me luck!

Multi-tasking is a Talent

When I was in college: I was juggling my academics (being a nerd), my participation in the Dance Troupe of my school, participating actively in the Student Council , had a part time job and most important of all – I had a social life.

I think I did the impossible.

When I graduated, the company where I was currently working offered me a full time managerial position. I couldn’t say no since this can be a huge leap to climb up that career ladder.

I was doing Recruitment, Admin Tasks, Marketing and I would find myself also in operations during weekend. To top it all I was EMILY in Devil Wears Prada. Yup I would wash the apples of my Managing Director.

I wonder how I survived. We all have our limitations – I resigned after a year.

I finally made a shift in my career – from retail I wanted to explore PR and Events. The most toxic job you could ever think of.

After being an Account Executive for 2 years, I was offered a position in the PR Department. I couldn’t say no –I’ve always wanted to do it anyway. Now that I’ve been a Media Relations Officer for a year and guess what – I do a little of everything – client management, media management, a little PR writing, booking of talents, and additional admin tasks.

Multi-tasking is a talent but it’s get tiring too.

So is this a curse or a blessing I’ll have to carry for the rest of my life?

Awesomeness in Cebu

I just had the most awesome trip this year – I ♥ Cebu. Between me and my friends we call it Zayboo!

We went to Bantayan Island.

And Malapascua Island.

And yeah of course a day or two in the City.

We ended up trashing Mariot Hotel. But it was the best feeling in the world. Not caring or worrying about anything except to have a good time.

This was the trip for the books.

I’m missing this already.

It's all about the money

I couldn’t think of any witty intro but all I could say is that sometimes God has the best sense of humor. I just had to blog about this.

‘Work hard, party harder’ – cliché but hey, at one point or another we try to live up to that statement. After having a very busy week, I really wanted to unwind. Go out, have a few drinks to the point you’re tipsy with of course the best company. So last night, since it’s one of my best friend’s birthday, we all met up. Surprisingly it didn’t feel like a weekday. Fun fun night and when my brother texted me that he was already downstairs, of course I knew I had to say goodbye to my friends and buy him his favorite Iced Mocha (that’s our SOP when he has to pick me up from a gimmick). Apparently I ran out of cash, so I decided to go to the nearest atm all of a sudden – one of my biggest fears happened – my atm card never went out. This never happened to me. I felt terrible because how will I survive the weekend if I don’t have cash with me, the hassle of going to the bank to request for a new card and etc. Because I’m human and I guess I didn’t know how to handle situations like this, I called up the customer service and of course didn’t give the best attitude. In the end, obviously there’s nothing she can really do right? Went home feeling bad (with matching sermon from the Kuya). When I woke up, explained to my parents and asked them if I could borrow money just to survive for today. When I went inside the cab on my way to work, as I was about to put the money in the wallet …BEHOLD. My ATM card!!!

What the heck right? I have no idea what happened to me last (or maybe I was that drunk?).

Today wasn’t my favorite day at work, we have our good days and bad days, right? Because of last minute requirements, I had to stay in for a few more hours and at the last 30 minutes I was in the office – my brain wasn’t functioning well anymore. One of my good friends had this bright idea of having a massage before heading home and I think that there’s no better way to end a very hectic week. So we went to the spa and prepped ourselves to experience nirvana. Just when I was in the zone, I got a text from one of the directors “Hi Char, you left your wallet here in the office”. So much for the massage.

Two nights in a row, I think I have money issues or this is just plain stupidity or carelessness.

I know that I’ve been so uptight lately and too serious on things, I guess this is God’s way of telling me to take it easy, relax and hey the situation isn’t that bad because you can still laugh about it.

Now do you understand why I had to blog about it? It’s hilarious – Ms. Responsible and Ms. Career girl gets her share of life’s booboos and can laugh about it.
